Veterinary Services

  • Dr. Cate Cowan of Asheville Mobile Vet holding a stethoscope to the chest of a small dog in the comfort of its home during a wellness checkup.

    Routine Wellness Visits

Includes an annual physical examination, vaccinations and laboratory testing to keep your pet happy, healthy and protected from common diseases and parasites. We can also discuss diet, supplements and environmental enrichment during these visits!

  • Hand petting a small black dog on someone's lap during a sick visit by Asheville Mobile Vet.

    Sick Visits

Whether it’s an ear infection, rash, GI upset, lameness or just plain ADR (ain’t doing right), we are eager to provide a thorough physical exam and diagnostic testing to get to the bottom of the issue and treat it. We try our very best to schedule these visits within 48 hours, but this will depend greatly on demand.

    Chronic Disease Management

Skin allergies, osteoarthritis, kidney disease, thyroid issues…you name it, we would be honored to partner in managing your pet’s ongoing health issue(s). These pets often need a little extra TLC, more frequent lab work or injectable therapies to manage their conditions and keep them feeling good. Instead of loading up and going to the vet every time your pet needs a treatment, let us come to you!

    Telehealth Visits

For established patients, this provides the chance for us to follow up about health issues over the phone or video-chat and skip a house-call and exam fee. Some problems are more appropriate for a telehealth consult than others. When calling to schedule, Dr. Cowan will let you know if an in-person visit is recommended, instead.

Quality of Life Assessment and Home Euthanasia

Sometimes, you need an expert opinion on your beloved companion’s quality of life before you can make the decision to let them pass peacefully. Perhaps there are changes we can implement to improve and extend life. Other times, it’s clear that humane euthanasia is the kindest option. We understand the gravity of this moment and cherish the opportunity to hold your hand through the decision-making process and ease the transition when it’s time to say goodbye.

How to prepare:

To make your pet’s appointment as smooth as possible, have them in a safe, easily accessible space before we arrive. Dogs should be in a comfortable area where they feel secure.

If your kitty tends to make themselves scarce when guests arrive, we suggest placing them in a cozy carrier or small room about an hour before your appointment.

Gather any recent medical records, medications, and questions you’d like to discuss, and we’ll take care of the rest!

If we prescribe any medications, you’ll be able to order them easily through our online pharmacy, or pick up at your local human pharmacy.

Service area:

We are based in West Asheville and will travel up to 45 minutes to provide veterinary care. If you fall outside our 45-minute visit radius, reach out! We’ll do our best to accommodate your visit or help connect you with another trusted mobile veterinarian in your area.
